Notable Achievements
Short Story Prize
Last year, Christopher Parker-Colvin (year 7) won the short story prize in a competition organised for Cambridge primary schools by St Faith’s and the writer Julian Sedgwick, while at his primary school, Park Street (Cambridge).
Though too modest to say himself, this was no mean feat, as the competition was open to all Cambridge primary schools; the competition was fierce.
You can read his prize-winning short story, here:
The librarian at St Faiths has very kindly offered to send £50 worth of library books to St Bede’s as part of Christopher’s prize.
These were the books that Christopher won for the library. He recommended 'The Nowhere Emporium' series of three books and Mrs Glibbery chose another 3 new releases for our library at St Bede's. Christopher got to choose books for himself too (pictures, below).
A massive congratulations to Christopher and to the wonderful, generous staff at Park St Primary School, and St Faith's, who organised the event.
Remembrance Sunday in St Ives
A very well done to Adam Lukaszewski, Y7, who proudly took part in Remembrance Sunday celebrations - parade and service - in St Ives, Cambs, as part of the 2nd St Ives Sea Scouts group. Adam made quite the positive impression, as his behaviour in particular, was singled out by the Mayor of St Ives, no less (pictured). Well done, Adam!
Remembrance Sunday in Cambridge
Adriana Kujawska, Y9, together with her friends from Royal Marines Cadets and Sea Cadets (Cambridge Unit) spent two weekends collecting for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. She also took part in Remembrance Sunday by the Cambridge War Memorial. She felt very proud to be part of this celebration. Royal Marines Cadets and Sea Cadets provide fantastic opportunities to young people and lifelong friendships; speak to Adriana if you'd like to find out more!
