Uniform

It is important for all students to come to school dressed smartly. We feel that it gives students a sense of well-being and enables them to identify readily with our school. If you have any queries please contact school general enquiries.
In addition to the details below:

All clothing must be clearly named
- Students who journey to and from school by bicycle are expected to wear a cycle helmet.
- All students are expected to arrive at and leave school in school uniform.
- Hoodies and tracksuit clothing are not permitted, at any time.
- Coats cannot be worn inside school, and should be placed inside their locker (or bag) unless worn outside at break and lunchtime
- School blazers should be worn at all times inside school (unless given permission during hot periods)
- The school will exercise reasonable discretion with regard to students' presentation, including matters not explicitly covered in the uniform code.
- Personal headphones are required for ICT and music lessons.
Boys' Uniform
- Black trousers. These should be traditional full length school trousers, tailored in style, i.e. not canvas or denim and not tight around the legs. Appropriate trousers can be purchased from high street retailers, but are also available from Total Clothing, our uniform supplier, via the link below. Traditional tailored school shorts may be worn in the second half of the Summer Term; these can be ordered from Total Clothing (please be aware that PE shorts are not permitted as part of the standard school uniform)
- St Bede's School blazer
- Optional St Bede's jumper or cardigan with the school logo
- Blue long- or short-sleeved shirt (available from Total Clothing or high street retailers. If bought from a high street retailer they must be the same as those available via the Total Clothing website)
- St Bede's School tie
- Plain black socks only
- Traditional, polishable black school shoes with black soles and no logos. Trainers, boots and canvas shoes are not permitted.
Girls' Uniform
- Black knee-length stitch pleated skirt or traditional black full length tailored school trousers (not tight around the legs. Skinny jeans are not permitted). The bottom of the trousers should reach the shoes or just above. Students should not wear shortened, calf-length trousers or culottes. Skirts and trousers are available from Total Clothing via the link below. If purchased from high street retailers, please make sure they are the same as those on the Total Clothing website. If trousers are worn, we would ask that these are not worn rolled up. Traditional tailored school shorts may be worn in the second half of the Summer Term (please be aware that PE shorts are not permitted as part of the standard school uniform).

- Optional St Bede's navy v-necked jumper or cardigan with the school logo; these can be purchased from Total Promotions via the link below
- Blue long- or short-sleeved shirt (available from Total Clothing. If purchased from a high street retailer please ensure they are the same as those on the Total Clothing website)
- St Bede's School tie
- Plain black socks or black opaque tights only
- Flat black traditional polishable school shoes with black soles and no logos. Trainers, boots, canvas shoes and shoes with heels are not permitted.
Jewellery and Make-Up
- Earrings should be limited to small studs
- Necklaces must only be worn inside clothing and removed for PE and practical subjects
- Rings should not be worn
- Nose rings are not permitted
- Make-up should not be worn
- Nail varnish should be natural. Gel and acrylic nails should not be worn
- Long hair should be tied back for practical lessons

Lost Property
- As stated above, all uniform should be clearly named.
- In the event of any lost uniform being handed in to reception or found on site, we will be able to return the uniform to the student as soon as it is received.
- Any unnamed uniform that is handed to reception or found will go to lost property. Any enquiries relating to lost property can be made at reception.
- If lost uniform cannot be found, then new items can be ordered and paid for directly via the link to Total Clothing (below).
- A student will be able to borrow a plain tie, from reception in the event of forgetting or losing their tie. Each loaned tie will be signed out at the point of issuance, and should be returned at the end of the day to reception. Students will be held liable for any loaned ties that are either not returned or have been damaged.
- The school has a small stock of spare blazers, and any that are loaned to students in the event of either forgetting or losing their own blazer, will follow the same procedure as that outlined with ties.
Returning Uniform
We kindly ask that any uniform that can be donated by students leaving us at the end of year 11 do so by the end of their final exam. Donations are always greatly received by families within our community.
Purchasing Uniform
Year 7 parents: Please pay for the school tie via WisePay priced at £10.50. The new House Colour Ties will then be given out to students on the first day of term Wednesday 4th September.
