Vocal & Instrument Tuition
We aim to have the school buzzing with music as it has a positive impact on a students’ social, moral and academic progress. Instrumentalists and vocalists are encouraged to join the school extra-curricular ensembles and to perform in our termly recitals and concerts to enhance their experience of Music at St Bede’s and support a development of ensemble awareness, a prominent aspect of the GCSE course. The music department strives to offer a group for everyone who would like to get involved, no matter how much previous musical experience students have had. To find out more about club availability and how to sign up, please see our clubs and activities page.
Vocal and instrumental tuition
Vocal and instrumental tuition at St Bede's is available through Cambridgeshire Music. We currently offer lessons in brass, woodwind, upper and lower string instruments (including harp), piano, drum kit, guitar and singing.
Vocal and instrumental lessons take place in the music department practice rooms. Lessons are usually 20-30 minutes long. Timetables are posted on the noticeboards outside the classrooms and emailed to parents. Lessons are usually on a rotational basis so that the same subject lesson is not missed each week. There are lockers available for students to store their instruments.
Students receiving tuition are often entered for the Associated Board, Trinity and Rock School examinations.
Details of charges and how to apply for tuition can be obtained directly from the Cambridgeshire Music website: https://www.cambridgeshiremusic.org.uk/.
